Welcome to our topic page where we will show what the children have been getting up to this half term. The topic we are looking at is 'Winter Wonderland'.

Science - Seasons

In our Science lessons we have been learning about the seasons and how this affects the weather and the world around us. This lesson focused on trees and how they change through the seasons. In order to investigate this, we explored our outdoor area and looked at the trees in our school. We discovered that some trees have lost their leaves as we are in Winter. We also found that some trees have kept their leaves. We learnt that these are deciduous and evergreen trees.  

Maths - 2D and 3D Shape

In Maths the children have moved onto 2D and 3D shapes. In this lesson, the children were focusing on 2D shapes. They were looking at 3D shapes in their previous lesson. When they completed their independent work, the children were tasked as a class to sort the physical 2D and 3D shapes into the correct box. 

RE - Judaism

In RE the children have been looking at Judaism and different special traditions they have. We have looked at the creation story (7 days) and then explored Shabbat in depth. The children have then began to look at celebrations that they may have attended. The children shared their experiences of celebration and looked at where they took place. The children then drew a celebration which they attended. Some were weddings, christenings and birthday parties. 

English - The Snowman

In our English lessons we have been looking at the story of the Snowman. The children have sequenced the story in order to be able to retell the story. This lesson, the children used drama to re-enact the story using what they had remembered from the previous lesson. The children were able to look more in depth into the characters and think about what the character might be feeling during a particular moment. The children were able to express emotions through action and facial expressions.  

PSHE - Anti Bullying

This term we are looking at what bullying is and how to prevent it. The children have had a discussion about what they believe bullying is and what this looks like in their friendships. The class came up with many different ideas about bullying and then created their own word maps as displayed above.
