Week 1

To kick start the year we have dove in to recapping and cementing our knowledge of figurative language.

Week 2

During week 2 we have begun reading Street Child by Berlie Doherty. It links to our topic of the Industrial Revolution, as it follows the story of a poor, Victorian boy who is orphaned and finds himself in the dreaded workhouse, a fate worse than prison!

Week 3

This week we read the first few chapters of Street Child and looked closely at the ‘Stick Man’ character. The children got to reenact one of the scenes where he visits the Jarvis family.

Week 4

The children gathered information from Street Child and wrote a diary entry from the perspective of Jim Jarvis. Absolutely delighted with the effort and results all round!
