Spring 1 - Arctic Adventures

We had a very exciting delivery into class this afternoon. A mysterious rucksack and a pair of boots arrived in school! The children were very interested in exploring the contents and talking about who they might belong to and what they might be used for.

Over the last few months, we have been learning how to use the chromebooks for different purposes. This week, we collected data in the form of a tally chart to find out how many children in the class like each Arctic animal the best. We then put this data into a pictogram using the chromebooks, took a screenshot and then put this onto a word document. The children really enjoyed this data handling session and I was very impressed by their computing skills!

In our Science lessons, we have been learning about Arctic animals and their characteristics. We used the chromebooks to research Arctic animals and wrote down key facts. We also sorted photographs of Arctic animals by their characteristics. Here are some of the ways we sorted the Arctic animals: Fur, scales, skin or feathers. Herbivore, omnivore or carnivore. Mammal, reptile, fish or bird.

As part of our work on the Arctic, we have been exploring ice in our Geography lesson and thought about words to describe it.
