At Sparken Hill Academy, we believe that every child deserves to thrive — academically, socially and emotionally.

Supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud of the skilled, caring team we have in place to make that happen.

We take a personalised approach to SEND support. Each child's needs are carefully assessed, and individual provision is planned and reviewed regularly to ensure it remains effective and responsive. Our provision maps and Learning Plans set out the targeted interventions and additional support in place across the school, and these are shared with families so that everyone is working together in the best interests of each child.

Our experienced team of specialist Teaching Assistants works alongside class teachers throughout the school, providing tailored support in the classroom and in small group or one-to-one settings where appropriate. We work closely with a range of external agencies and specialists — including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and occupational therapists — to ensure children with more complex needs receive the right support at the right time.

We are equally committed to stretching and challenging our higher-attaining pupils, ensuring that all children are given opportunities to excel and reach their full potential.
