I joined the Governing Body when I was appointed to the post of headteacher of Ryton Park Primary School in 2004. My role is to provide the Governing Body with information which they can use to help them carry out their role as strategic leaders. Including the school improvement, pupil performance, staffing, site matters and budget information. I work closely with the Chair of the Full Governing Body in particular in support of their preparation for meetings. Additionally, I liaise with the specific link governors during their monitoring visits to the Academy. I am married, have lived and worked in Worksop for the majority of my life and live near to the school. I enjoy my role and feel privileged to work with a very committed team and serve the young people who are taught at the Academy. My interests are gardening and watching films.
Personal Statement | As a local boy who attended Ryton Park as a child, I feel that I have a special connection with the school. I am dedicated to making a difference to the way children are nurtured and given the right teaching opportunities in school.

Interests | I have a passion for the great outdoors and love walking and all things ‘country’. I continue to play sports particularly field hockey but enjoy skiing and most forms of sporting activities. Cars and all things mechanical have a fascination for me and act as a foil to my every day job which I enjoy enormously but which can become very intense.
Personal Statement | I was educated in Worksop at the former Winifred Portland Technical Grammar School – now Outwood Portland Academy! Having moved away from Worksop in my late teens I returned to take up my first teaching post in Worksop in 1976 and have remained a resident of Worksop ever since. I have taught in many schools around the area the last being as Head of a special school in Rotherham. I currently work as an education advisor helping to provide alternative educational provision for those students for whom a mainstream placement is not suitable. I am committed to providing the least restrictive educational environment for all students to allow them to flourish and thrive in a positive environment. To this end I am committed to Sparken Hill Academy which I hope will be a shining beacon of educational provision for the community we serve. |

Interests | I have two children and have lived in Bassetlaw for 20 years. My family originate from Worksop. I am a local head teacher within the town and my teaching career spans 22 years within Nottinghamshire. I have worked at a variety of schools and care passionately about education. I believe that school should be a positive experience for children whilst achieving academically is important, I also believe that providing knowledge, skills and awareness to become well rounded, resilient, young adults is just as important. Whilst my free time is spent supporting my own children in their activities, I find time to sing and am a member of my village Church PCC.
| |
Personal Statement | I am a firm believer in nurturing children from the onset, ensuring high quality early years provision. Children only get the one chance and as adults we have a collective responsibility to ensure they have the best opportunities.
