Autumn 2 - Victorian Christmas
In history we are going back in time to see how the Victorians celebrated Christmas and to see how they have influence Christmas today. We begun the topic by visiting Newstead Abbey. The children spent time with Mr Webb, in the kitchen, children’s bedrooms, playing the old toys, making spice bags and watching a magic lantern movie.
In English we are writing A biography about Charles Dickens. The pupils began by researching his life to find out how influential he was during the Victoria era. The pupils then worked on sentence structure, using parentheses and relative clauses before writing up the biography.
After completing the biographies, we used persuasive writing techniques to try and convince a judge that Scrooge had changed his ways. The pupils used keynote (iPads) to present their work.
During this term in science we will be studying electricity. We began by looking at circuits and different components.
In PSHE we are have been learning how to help people who are choking, bleeding on in shock. We also had a visit from the British Red Cross.
In Spanish we are going shopping! Looking at clothing descriptions, interpreting shopping lists and asking for prices in Euros.
