Autumn 2 - A Victorian Christmas
This half term our topic is a Victorian Christmas. We will be learning about how many of today’s favourite Christmas traditions were popularised by Queen Victoria (who reigned over Britain between 1837 to 1901) and the royal family in the 19th century. During her 63 year reign, there was a huge contrast between how the rich and poor Victorians lived. Several of the traditions we know and still celebrate today are rooted in German heritage thanks to Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert who promoted and encouraged the activity of decorating trees at Christmas. We look forward to sharing our learning with you!
