Year 5 have the opportunity to become journalists this term and enter the world of the newsroom with an interactive session led by the Guardian Newspaper.

In role as journalists, pupils have been introduced to key concepts and skills that they will explore in greater detail in the unit of work, such as how the news is made, issues of fake news, the importance of balance in news stories, and producing their own news reports.

At the start of the term we are learning about narrative poetry.  Pupils have been discussing stanzas, rhymes, repetition and figurative language.

In spelling we are following Spelling Shed.

Week 1 - word ending in ‘able’

Week 2  - Adverbials of time

Week 3 -  Words ending in ‘fer’

week 4 - Words with silent letters at the start
