Green 4 - Miss Bottrell

Welcome, my name is Miss Bottrell and I am the Class Teacher in Green 4.  Mrs Padley is the Teaching Assistant on hand to help us with all our learning needs.  In our classroom, we all share a love of learning and enjoy investigating and exploring all while having lots of fun!

Please read below for general classroom housekeeping and information:

PE days - Tuesday and Friday (please ensure children come to school in the correct Sparken Hill kit)

Water Bottles - children to bring a water bottle into school every day and these can be refilled as much as required.

Break Time Snacks - This is optional but if you do send your child to school with a snack please ensure it is a healthy option such as fruit or a cereal bar and NOT sweets or chocolate.

Homework - Homework menu's are given out at the start of each Half Term and children are encouraged to choose 1 activity to complete per week.  Homework books are handed out on Friday and the return date is Wednesday.

Reading - All children are assessed regularly so that they are matched to their appropriate reading book that they will read in school and bring home to share with family.  Children are encouraged to read at least 3 x per week at home and are given Dojo points to reward this.  Please sign your child's reading diary every time they read so that they can redeem their Dojo.  Reading can also be done on Bug Club, My On and accelerated reader as well as a physical copy of their book. Books from home are also strongly encouraged and I am always keen to learn about other titles that the children have enjoyed.

Spelling - Children will have a spelling test in school every Monday and will be given new spellings to practise at home on the same day.  We give regular opportunities for practise in school via work on definitions, handwriting and Ed Shed but strongly encourage home practise too.

Times Tables - We encourage regular practise of times tables in Year 4 as we aim for all children to be fluent in their times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4.  We practise regularly in school but also encourage use of TT Rockstars at home to improve knowledge and rapid recall.

Uniform - Please ensure your child's name is written in all uniforms, particularly coats, blazers and P.E kit as this helps us to locate it much quicker in the event of getting lost.

Many thanks for your ongoing support
