We decided to undertake an audit of our curriculum, school welcoming environment, books and resources to ensure we were inclusive to our amazing children. We were able to update many of our practices positively and just one of the many adaptations made was to undertake The Rainbow Flag Award with Centre Place. This award enables us to critically analyse our equality and inclusivity for the LGBTQ+ community within our curriculum and ethos. 

We are evidencing these changes throughout the school year and have, to date successfully achieved three of the six sections. Watch this space and please let us know if you have any comments or suggestions about how we  could best improve our school in this area. 

EDIT DEC 2023***   We have now achieved the Award for completing all sections and evidencing inclusivity for our LGBTQ+ community. We have ensured our resources and curriculum prevent misinformation and dismissal of feelings and that we are respectful and sensitive to all identities. We are so proud that all our children will feel included, valued and part of our Sparken Hill family community.
