Spring Term 2
PSHE
This week we have looked at communities. We have explored the different communities that we are part of, starting with our class community; Green 1 and then our school community, before looking further afield. We have developed an underdog what we could do to enhance our communities from litter picks to playtime buddies, from tidying areas of school to reading to the younger children.
Science
This, we have developed an understanding of what pitch is. Through an investigative approach we have explored how to
make high and low pitched sounds using a variety of resources. We now understand that a pitch can be altered by making a change to a variable
e.g. the thickness of a guitar string or the tension of the material the sound is travelling through.
PSHE
This week our focus has been on Diversity. We understand the term and have learnt how people can be diverse and how this features within our community. We also explored different mean of diversity through images. We then thought about how we are unique and the qualities we have that may set us apart from others.
World Book Day
This year we had great fun in celebrating World Book Day. Every member of Green 1 dressed as their favourite Book character. We had everything from Dork to India Jones to Mary Poppins to Marcus Rashford. We had a special assembly and then celebrated with some World Book Day activities. Many thanks to all of the parents for making your children look truly amazing!
Science
During the lesson today, we have explored how sound is made. We know that sound and soundwaves occur by vibrations in the air. When these objects vibrate it causes movement in the air particles (These are the vibrations). The air particles bump into one another until the particles run out of energy. Should the vibrations reach the ear then the sound will be heard. To demonstrate this, we all became sound particles, bumping into one another to try to get from the material that made the sound to the ear.
