In the Autumn term we are learning...

 

All about 'Awesome Animals' (Autumn 1).  We will be settling new children in with simple familiar stories that encourage speech and language development through repetitive refrains and encourage the building of new vocabulary. We will be learning nursery rhymes throughout the half term, building phonological awareness and experimenting with patterns in sounds. 

These are our special books....

All about 'My Fanstastic Family and Festivals' (Autumn 2). We will be reading books about families and talk about our own families using pictures from home. We will be learning nursery rhymes throughout the half term, building phonological awareness and experiementing with patterns in sounds. Will be improving our phase 1 phonics skills during differentiated group times through: 

-Environmental Sound discrimination 

-Instrumental Sound discrimination

-Body Percussion Sound discrimination 

-Rhythm & Rhyme 

-Alliteration

-Voice Sounds

-Oral Blending & Segmenting 

 

We will be learning about special festivals and celebrations people can celebrate such as Harvest, Diwali, Bonfire Night, Remembrance Day and Christmas and explore these through activties in our enhanced provision.


We will even take part in our first Christmas show 'Sparkle and Sing!'. The children will take part in the Christmas Tree Festival, experiencing a bus trip to Priory Church.

In the Spring term we are learning...

 

All about 'Fabulous Fairy Tales' (Spring 1 & 2).  We will be settling new children in with familiar stories they may have heard at home. These stories build on speech and language development and develop story telling language. We will encourage joining in with 'choral story telling' and using story telling actions and phrases to build vocabulary. We will read stories together as a group, fostering confidence, fluency and a love for language, using repetitive patterns/call-and-response in familiar tales.  


We will be visiting our school farm and find out all about the farm animals we have and how we look after them!

 

Will be improving our phase 1 phonics skills during differentiated group times through: 

-Environmental Sound discrimination 

-Instrumental Sound discrimination

-Body Percussion Sound discrimination 

-Rhythm & Rhyme 

-Alliteration

-Voice Sounds
