PE
The second half of this term the children in year 5&6 will be taught orienteering and basketball in their PE lessons.
Year 5&6 Inter House Basketball 🏀 Tournament
Wednesday 10th December
Today all 5 classes from years 5&6 took part in an inter house tournament. This was the last session of their PE lessons this half term on 🏀 basketball, it was a chance to showcase all the skills and tactics that they had learnt, including those are needed to play the game.
After 30 games throughout the day the overall winners were Buckingham House who were awarded 100 house points. Then 2nd place was joint with Windsor and Sandringham both received 60 points and Balmoral were 3rd place and awarded 25 points.
Well done everyone, some superb performances and some great teamwork demonstrated today.
Orienteering competition
Mrs Paton chose 12 pupils to represent our school in the Bassetlaw School orienteering competition which was hosted by Worksop college.
The children were chosen on their ability to read and navigate a map and work with a partner orienteering around a course.
They did amazingly well and came first place overall out of 12 schools that took part.
Two of our pairs also won silver and bronze medals.
Netball Festival
Some Girls from year 5&6 attended a netball festival at Retford Oaks on Thursday 13th November. They took part in 8 different activities all related to playing the game and improving their skills.
In PE lessons this half term all pupils will be taught Pop Lacrosse 🥍 with Mrs Paton.
Each week they will learn different skills to enable them to play a competitive game by the end of the 6 week block. They will learn how to catch, throw, shoot, pass, defend and attack. How to work as a team and use tactics and techniques to improve their performance.
We will have Inter House matches in the last week of term too.
Their 2nd PE lesson with their class teacher will be WW2 dances, the jitterbug and a few more.
Inter House Pop Lacrosse 🥍
In PE today all 5 classes from year 5+6 have taken part in an inter house competition to complete their final week of pop lacrosse.
