PE and Sports Premium

PE and Sports Funding

The PE and sport premium is government funding for primary schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, physical activity and sport. This page summarises how we used it in 2025-26, its impact, how we make that impact last, and our Year 6 swimming results.

Making PE and sport accessible to every child

In 2025-26 we targeted part of the funding to widen opportunities in PE, sport and physical activity for:

Pupils with SEND

Adapted activities so that every child can take part.

Long-term medical conditions

Support for pupils with ongoing health needs.

Girls

Better access to PE lessons and extra-curricular sport.

Disadvantaged pupils

Removing barriers to sport and physical activity.

How we make the impact last

The premium must bring improvements that continue after the funding is spent. Our spending is planned with that in mind:

  • Training our own staff. The largest share of the grant builds teachers' confidence and subject knowledge, which stays in school year after year.
  • Coaches alongside teachers. Specialist coaches work with our staff, not instead of them, so expertise is passed on.
  • Lasting equipment. New equipment is used across the curriculum, at playtimes and in clubs for years to come.
  • Partnerships. Our School Sport Partnership, School Games and Youth Sport Trust links give pupils regular competition and give staff ongoing professional support.
  • Pupil leadership. Our Sports Leaders help run activities and events, building a culture of sport that pupils sustain themselves.

Swimming and water safety

Schools must publish how many Year 6 pupils meet the National Curriculum swimming requirements. For our 2025-26 Year 6 cohort:

95%swim 25 metres competently, confidently and proficiently
94%use a range of strokes effectively, such as front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
92%perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

We did not use PE and sport premium funding for additional top-up swimming lessons in 2025-26.

Looking ahead to 2026-27

We have asked the new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network for targeted support in two areas:

  • Swimming and water safety: training for staff to support swimming and water safety.
  • Extra-curricular opportunities: more clubs and activities for pupils beyond the school day.

Our PE and sport offer

  • Two hours of high-quality PE for every pupil each week, planned from a progression of skills running from EYFS to Year 6.
  • Competitive and cooperative challenges, house sport and inter-school competitions through our School Sport Partnership.
  • An all-year programme of after-school sports clubs, with links to local community clubs.
  • Sports Leaders, dance and swimming as part of our wider offer.
  • We follow the School Games values and are a School Games Platinum Mark school, working with the Youth Sport Trust.
