Tuesday 14th October

The 2nd league game of the season and another convincing win for our boys team . Goals from Koseph F and an own goal made it 2-0 at half time. In the second half they had a few chances but Archie D once again was superb in goal. In the 2nd half another own goal from a corner and then Owen finished the match off with a great strike to make it 4-0.
well done Boys 👍

Thank you Redlands pupils and staff for travelling to our school to play.

Boys league match V Carlton Ramsden ⚽️

First league match for the Boys tonight V Carlton Ramsden.
A smaller pitch and goals than we are used to but they played well and opened the scoring after a superb through ball from Oscar in midfield played into the box for Archie to run onto and score.
Joe, Fred and Oscar were brilliant at the back and Archie D had an excellent game in goal too.
We went 2-0 up after Archie B was played through again and chipped the keeper. In the 2nd half we scored again after Jasper won the ball on the left wing and put a superb cross into the box and Owen volleyed the ball into the back of the net. The final score was 3-0 and Oscar S was nominated as Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in defence.
Well done Boys 👍

⚽️ Girls League match V Gateford Park ⚽️

Our Girlsteam played their 2nd league match tonight and it was a very different game against some good players.
Gateford were 4-0 up at half time and dominated the game. In the 2nd half they scored another 2 goals very quickly to make it  6-0 .
However some good sportsmanship by their coaches then changed the game, they-took off their 2 academy players and the match was much more even and pretty much end to end with chances.
The final score was 6-0 to Gateford and their players chose Joey as the player of the match for us.
Well done to our Girls, they battled hard and never gave up showing true determination and resilience.

⚽️ Jack Tarr Plate cup match V SirEd Hillary ⚽️

Thursday 2nd October

Our Girls team were drawn against SEH school in the first round of the  new Jack Tarr Cup  competition this year.
We lost our GK to injury earlier in the day and Sienna volunteered to go in goal. Thank you Sienna 🙏

We were on the back foot from the start with SEH having a few club players but our 2 defenders Ehlana and Gemma were brilliant and tackled well frustrating their players.
Eventually they did score from a brilliant strike and then another from a goal mouth scramble.
Sienna made a great save from a corner but couldn’t hold on to the ball and their striker reacted quickly to make it 3-0.
In the 2nd half we managed to get a goal back after we were awarded a free kick.
SEH also scored another 2 goals in the 2nd half and although we had some chances we couldn’t capitalise on them.

Gemma was voted as the player of the match for our team, well done Gemma 👍⚽️
We wish SEH good luck in the next round of the competition.

Gymnastics Festival

Wednesday 1st October

Another amazing opportunity for some of our pupils today as they had the chance to go to Retford Gymnastics Centre and take part in a variety of activities. These included beam, vault, bars, floor, springboards, trampoline pit and rings. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time there.

Girls league match V Ordsall ⚽️

Monday 29th September

Our newly formed Girls team played their first ever league match tonight V Ordsall School.
All of the Girls were a little nervous to start with but they soon settled down and started to enjoy playing.
Ordsall took the lead but not for long, within minutes we had equalised with a great shot from Ashley. We then went 2-1 up with a bit of a goal mouth scramble and Porscha managed to score.
Ordsall equalised to make it 2-2 and then we went ahead again with Daisy scoring from a shot just outside the goal area.
Mia played her first ever game in goal and made some good saves, Joey had a brilliant game on the right wing and was picked as Girl of the match by the Ordsall players.
Alana and Gemma were both defenders and played really well too.
Well done Girls👍 we are all really proud of you.

We have had an absolutely amazing day today at Sherwood Pines and the Bassetlaw Schools Eco Warriors event.
Litter Picking ✅ Tree ID ✅ Scavenger Hunt ✅ Play Park ✅ Friends ✅ Fun ✅

Our Eco Warriors learned about how to ID certain types of trees 🌲 by their leaves 🍃 trunk and bark.
Did a massive litter pick and scavenger hunt and trail and had a play on the new equipment.

Orienteering competition

Friday 6th June

This was held at Ranby House and once again what an absolute privilege to be able to use such spectacular surroundings for this event.
We entered 6 teams, each of these teams consisted of 2 pupils. The pairs set off at 1 minute intervals and had 20. I utes to try and find 20 different points on the map.
Each point found was worth 10 points, therefore the maximum number was 200.
This year the course was much harder and longer and out of the 90 pairs that took part only 2 managed to find all 20 in the allocated time.
Three of our pairs found 19 but were penalised 5 points for being late back, So they all finished with 185 points, however because they came 4th 5th and 6th overall it was a good enough score to come 2nd 🥈 place overall.
Congratulations Team👍
They all enjoyed the event and were great ambassadors for our school.

Bassetlaw schools Basketball 🏀 Competition

Thursday 22nd May

We entered 1 team into this year’s competition this year. The rules were slightly different too.
No zone defence this year and retreat line for the attacking team after they score a basket. Girls played first 10 minutes and Boys played in 2nd half and then scores added together for final team score.
we played really  well and the Girls in particular were superb giving the boys a good lead in each game.
At the end the scores were added up and we came joint 🥇 first place.
well done 👍.

Notts Cricket Dynamos Competition 🏏

Monday 19th May

Today we took a boys and Girls team to this event organised by Notts CCC and hosted by Blyth CC.
It was 8 a side, batting for 2 overs in pairs, 2 runs awarded for a wide and a no ball and then a free hit.
If either batter was bowled, caught or run out then 5 runs were deducted. When fielding everyone in the team had to bowl 1 over and keep swapping fielding positions. Both our boys and girls teams became more confident and consistent as the day progressed and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Dodgeball festival

KS1 MultiSkills Festival

Thursday 1st May

Today we hosted the KS1 MultiSkills Festival for all the Bassetlaw Schools that are participating in the School Games calendar which is organised by Kate our SGO at Retford Oaks.  The idea of this particular festival is that the Sports Crew from each school are the ones that run and organise each of the different activities. However as some of the schools were not able to bring their Sports crew we were asked to organise 5 of the 12 activities.
Our amazing sports crew rose to the challenge and were absolutely fantastic. There week before they met with Mrs Paton and all decided which activity they would like to do. Then they planned it together and worked out what equipment and space they would need. On the day they set out their activity and ran through it, then they began the festival. Our Crew members delivered golf, orienteering, rugby, dance and an obstacle course. They were all nervous to start with but as the sessions progressed they began to get more confident and relaxed.
Both Mrs Paton and Mr Johnson are extremely proud of all of them, they really were great young leaders.

Girls league match V Ordsall

25th March

Another great performance from our girls team today and another great win. Ordsall played with 3 at the back so they were quite hard to break down but perseverance paid off and just before halftime Emma scored.
The second half we managed to take control of the game, once again India and Gemma were amazing in defence and with Poppy in great form in midfield and Sofia, Michelle, Nodam and Carys across the midfield we looked really good.
Incredibly proud of all these Girls, the improvement over the last year is unbelievable and they are a pleasure to coach.

Well done Girls ⚽️👏👍

Boys league match V Ordsall

Tuesday 25th March

Boys played their first game after the winter break tonight. A tough fixture V Ordsall and although we played well they were the better team on the day. ArchieD in year4 was amazing in goal and if it wasn’t for him the score line could have been even more.

SportsHall athletics County Finals

Thursday20th March

This was the first time we had qualified for the county finals so that in itself was an amazing achievement for our team. The event was held at Harvey Hadden stadium in Nottingham and there were qualifiers from the 8 other Nottingham  districts.
The format was very different to the Bassetlaw rounds and it took a while for our team to feel confident, however after the first couple of races we settled down and started to enjoy the experience and relax.
Michelle was the overall winner of the speed bounce with a phenomenal 53 in 20 seconds ! Some superb running in the relays by Ethan and Jenson and great long jump by Emma.
overall an amazing experience for the whole team and they all represented our school and Bassetlaw with exemplary performances and behaviour. Well done 👍

Girls league match V Norbridge

Tuesday 18th March

An amazing game tonight by our girls team.
Hard work and their great teamwork finally paid off with a 4-0 win against Norbridge. India and Gemma were both confident in defence. Lyra kept a clean sheet and pulled off some great saves. Poppy controlled the mid field along with Emma and Carys and Sofia on the left wing with Nodam on the right.
Incredibly proud of them all. 👍
