Year 2 Maths
Today we are learning to find 1/3 of an amount. This means splitting a number into 3 equal groups and counting how many are in each group.
We would like you to investigate which numbers up to 24 can be split into thirds. You could use coins, pieces of pasta or any other small objects you have at home. Start at 1 - can it be split into three equal groups? If not move on to 2 etc. If you find a number that can be split into 3 equal groups, count how many are in each group. This will give you 1/3 of that number.
If you want to challenge yourself, you could go all the way up to 36!
