Monday

This week's English lessons are based on a book called 'Katie in London,' by James Mayhew.  It's about a little girl and her brother Jack who go to London with their grandma and something very unexpected happens!

After you've heard the story by following the video link, you'll be doing some follow up work.

Monday is planning a letter

 Tuesday is writing a letter

Wednesday is phonics

Thursday is deciding which places you think Katie or Jack enjoyed visiting most.

Friday is improving and writing sentences.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WOULD LIKE AN INDEPENDENT ACTIVITY ALL WEEK INSTEAD here it is!

What can you find out about the Tower of London?

You can use all you skills to show what you find out- models, painting, drawings,  photos, labelled diagram, writing and anything else you can think of! Good luck.

Imagine you are Katie, and you and your brother Jack have just had that amazing adventure with the magical lion. What would you like to tell your grandma about it in a letter? Plan the letter first by drawing some pictures of the parts of the story you're going to tell grandma.  Add some time conjunctions . Time conjunctions tell us when things happen. Look at the time conjunctions mats to remind you.

History

This week in our history lessons, we are continuing to learn about London.

Today we are going to to learn about the Tower of London and the Crown Jewels.

There is a video link for you to click on to see the Queen wearing the crown jewels.

Read the information sheet and then see if you can draw a picture of the Crown jewels in your books or download the sheet provided. You could also if you wish do some extra research on the internet, in books or ask your adults too if they have any information or photographs.

There is also a sheet that shows you how to draw a Beefeater guard which you could try.

There is a video link to a story about Paddington Bear visiting the tower. Just click on the link/arrow and the video should play.
