Sparken Hill Academy's E-Safety policy and procedures have recently been assessed and we have been accredited with the 360 degree E-Safety Mark.


As a school, we are keen to keep up to date with the latest technology in school as we believe that it will enhance your child’s education. The internet provides an exciting opportunity for your child to access a wealth of resources which have not always been available on this scale. We are aware that there is the potential for children to access unsuitable materials but we have taken steps to deal with this. The school internet operates a filtering system which is designed to restrict access to inappropriate material. Internet access is monitored closely and any misuse is reported and is acted upon on immediately.

We have devised the following set of rules which we ask the children to follow to ensure their safety.

Internet Safety Rules

  1. Always use computers responsibly, handling them carefully and following the internet safety rules.

  2. Always tell an adult when you are using the Internet.

  3. Always be nice to people on the computer like you would in the playground.

  4. Only share your username and password with your parents/carers.

  5. Don’t talk to anyone you don’t know on the internet.

  6. Don’t open email messages or pop ups from strangers as they may contain nasty viruses that break your computer.

  7. Always handle computers carefully and do not change their settings without adult permission.

  8. Never type in your personal details on the internet unless your parents say yes.

  9. Always talk to an adult if you are worried or unsure about anything on the internet.
